It is supposed to snow tonight/tomorrow morning and I work until 4am so I am not looking forward to the drive. But I did get my windshield wipers replaced today. I could not see the road! Apparently you should replace them once a year and I never have since getting the car two and a half years ago.
I noticed how pathetic my wipers were when I was coming home from the bookstore today. I bought two books, both by cartoonist/comic artist Ben Caldwell, who’s style I really liked. This is his site. Look at the intro picture! Haha, I love it. I already can tell I’ll have fun with these books.

Rawwwr! Drawing is hard! So hard! I just want it to come out how I imagine it. Gah!
I also want to finish a story. But that’s hard too. God, why is creating stuff so difficult? (Hahahaha, the double entendre was unintended, but pretty funny.)
Sigh, anyway. I have nothing really worth talking about, but at least I’m posting!
I started story boarding a comic I want to do featuring Clara from the previous post. I had a rush of knowing exactly where I want to the story to go the other day, but my coworker interrupted me (with just inane chit chat, at that) and by the time I got home, I had lost the compulsion.
Work has been SLOW. Like, I won’t see a single person for hours. Which is pretty ridiculous. But it’s because of the holidays. And then AwkwardS went home for the holiday and Frozen is all tangled up in homework and the internet is just boring and depressing, and all of this makes me into a big blob of laziness.
And I have a headache.

Worked on this last night while hanging with Frozen. Once I’ve got a light box, I’m going to ink a new version and have Frozen sketch me up a background for it because I am god awful at that, as you may have notice with my previous WIP of the girl at the little pond. Trees don’t look like that! Haha.
So where are all of you affiliates? None of you post often enough. I mean, I know I let a few days pass between posts, but come on, now. I have nothing to read at work if you don’t write!
I went and saw Fantastic Mr. Fox at its midnight premiere the other night and let me just say, it was cussing fantastic. Haha. I’ve slowly been falling a little in love with Wes Anderson, and this just about did it. The fox named Ash was just perfect. Go watch it. I want to see it again already. I wish I could buy it right now instead of waiting months until it gets released. Yes I will own it. It is that good.

Frozen is going to be making me a light box!
For those of you who don’t know what a light box is, let me just say, it is not an unheavy cube-shaped object. Actually, it might end up a little weighty.
No, a light box is a desk-ish sized wooden box with a plank of opaque plexiglass on top and lightbulbs inside so that you can put paper on top and trace an image. I’m excited because this means I can ink sketches I make up on new paper without ruining the original, and then I can try watercolors! Or colored pencil techniques. Because I have come to a conclusion: I can not digitally color worth shit. I have tried over and over, and I’ve tried reading a few tutorials, and while tutorials have been helping me slowly learn to draw better, for some reason, they can do nothing for me photoshop coloring-wise. I think I’m just too used to traditional media – paints and colored pencils and whatnot. I can never get photoshop colors to blend and smear the way I want, and really, that’s what I’m all about.

A sleep deprivation headache sits above the eyes. Ugh.
You know what I don’t need? A Nintendo DS. I have like, 3 games for it, good games, but I don’t own the actual handheld (really, what the hell…). And I want more games for it. And I want it. Not like I don’t have enough games, but it’s just being prepared. My children will be raised on these games! (And I waaaaaaant it.)
I have a new sketch that I’m pretty pleased with, just about finished. I want to color it, but not digitally. But then, I don’t want to mess up the original sketch, so I don’t know when I’ll end up posting it. I think I’m going to try colored pencils. I always like how those pieces look. Actually, my favorite are the watercolor pieces other artists put up, but I don’t think I have the skills for that. Not yet, anyway.
I am getting better, though. I’ve been studying form and whatnot pretty hard lately. DeviantArt has some great tutorials that have already been helping me. It’s difficult and frustrating, but it feels good to be studying something, and when a sketch comes out better than I could do previously, I’m More >

Do ya like it? I like it. I like my image. It’s the same character as the one in my avatar. I’m very happy with my new set up. I particularly like where my tagline falls on the image. It’s like, “badass.” Female badass. That’s what that says.

New theme. I like it. There’ll be an image at the top at some point, as soon as I find an image I want up there. It’s so customizable, which is great cause it’ll be easy to change up when I get bored of it.
My Ender’s Game Series post has gotten an ugly amount of spam. But I don’t really care. It’s not hurting me any, and I’m too lazy to sort through potential spam comments to have the approval setting on, so oh well.
I’m so hungry…
Oh yeah, I almost forgot why I was posting.
I put up some new stuff on deviantart, very rough sketches. I want to practice, get better, and eventually have a comic or something. I’ve been practicing sketching Ed from FMA, and I have an original character concept sketch up. I can’t get the images into this post right now – I’m at work – but here are some links.
Thanks for taking a look. It’s all just practice and whatnot, but it was fun.
