Rawrrrr

Taco Bell is all I eat nowadays. Their chicken burritos for 89…why is there no cents key on the keyboard? Their chicken burritos are amazing. I eat them like, several times a week. This is partly because when I get off work, Taco Bell is the only thing open. But even when it’s not the only thing available, it’s what I want. I’m addicted.

Persona came out for the PSP and I really want it. I also want Final Fantasy Dissidia. (I think it’s really Dissidia Final Fantasy, but this goes against my understanding of the world.) There are so many video games I want… This is also part of the reason why I’m eating 89 cent burritos.

I’ll continue with my last post at another time.

For now, let me link this wonderful comic from A Softer World.

Hopefully, they don’t mind me linking it. I don’t see why they would. It’s advertisement!

Filler

Tiiiiired. That’s what I am.

If you want to watch a great show, give Avatar: The Last Airbender a try. Heavily influenced by anime, and in particular Miyazaki, it’s an animation from Nickelodeon, and a damn good one. I’ll post images of it tomorrow (really just later today), and a synopsis. This is more just a filler post for now. Frozen’s picking on me for having missed a day. Of course, I never said I would post every day, and technically I’ve surpassed that quota if building up posts is allowed. But whatever. I’m a nonconformist conformist!

On the video game front, I’m currently playing Chrono Cross, Final Fantasy Tactics (Awkward Silence just posted about that game recently), and Policenauts. I’m technically quite a ways through Final Fantasy VII as well, but I’ve kind of given up on it for now. I just can’t really get attached to the characters in that one. And I’m always slightly bored while playing. But I’ll finish it at some point. As for a general To Be Played list, I’ve got Jeanne D’arc, Disgaea, Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops, and Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth sitting on my shelf.

openCanvas 1.1

I wish I could draw really well. I can do alright if I try hard enough, but I wish it came easy and that I could just sit down and sketch up some characters and they’d look fantastic. I see such good work online and I just keep thinking “Jesus, how’d you get that good?” And people will have in their comments section for an amazing piece: ‘oh, I doodled this up in about 20 mins.’

I want to be that good!

Anyway, while sitting here enviously admiring one piece, I saw that the artist said they used openCanvas to draw it. Now, I know it’s not the tools that make the artist, it’s the artist that makes use of whatever tools they have, but I looked the program up and found a freeware version, and it’s pretty neat. It’s not Photoshop, but it has it’s own benefits that Photoshop lacks. I particularly like the feel of the paintbrush and how naturally things seem to blend. Maybe I’m just a fool with Photoshop, but I never really got the same feel with their paintbrushes.

If you’re interested in trying it out yourself, I found it at this forum. Much thanks to KainNero for More >

Also!

Happy October! My birthday is coming up soon.

22 is a way better number than 21.

You are likely to be eaten by a grue.

The first game I remember playing is Mario Paint for the snes, although I’m sure it really must have been Super Mario World since that’s what came with the system when my parents bought it for my brother and me. It was our first game system. I think I was six. Now I’m 21 and that snes is sitting next to my PS3 and Wii (I don’t have an Xbox, sorry).

I probably would have been happy to just move through the gaming generations with no concern at all for video game history if it weren’t for one particular game: Return to Zork.

Return to Zork is a pretty little gem that no one I know has ever heard about. And that is like, the biggest disappointment of my video game life. I’m going to have to find images for this one on the net (I captured Snatcher myself) because – it’s painful for me to say this – RTZ doesn’t work on my newest computer. Q_Q No, I can’t even use an emulator. I know Scummvm has opened its arms up to RTZ but I can’t even get the data files off my cd to open into a emu. And yes, More >

Gah!

Okay, so I’m on a cyberpunk spree lately and I just realized I have no clue where the first disc to my Bladerunner game is. This is highly upsetting. I think Frozen might have it, but like I’ve said, he’s a lazy ass, and he’s refusing to look right now. Does he not understand the the severity of this situation?

I just finished playing Snatcher about two days ago, which is a game by Kojima from the late 80s (ported to the Sega CD in 94 over here). It was heavily influenced by the movies Bladerunner and Terminator. And it was fantastic.

You play Gillian Seed, an amnesiac turned Junker, which is a low-level cop assigned to take out Snatchers – robots that pick a human target in the city, kill that target, and then design themselves to look like them, effectively taking the target’s role in society.

What’s really great about this game is the atmosphere and the characters. The graphics, for their time, are amazing. Detailed scenery and character design – it has the old school feel without being outdated. The characters themselves are very easy to get attached to. For how short of a game it is, it’s surprising just how More >

Whoops, forgot to title again…

I read this story yesterday. “The Secret Life of Walter Mitty.” I think I like it mostly because I relate well, but it’s also a good short read. Take a look at it.

Oh, also, all my links work now. I wrote a book in my About section. You can expect that kind of length from most of my posts. This short one is an anomaly.

(You’re removing this link from your bookmarks now, aren’t you?)

I forgot to title this the first two times I posted it.

Okay, so we’re off to a great start. As of right now, the only links on this site that work are my affiliates. So, no, you can’t know about me. Nor can you look at my long list of past posts or even comment on my current post.

How will I know you love me, internet stranger, if you can’t leave me messages saying so?!

And correcting these problems will have to wait til later, because I’m 1) too lazy to learn how to fix it myself, and 2) entirely dependent on Frozen when it comes to setting up anything on the internet. (My expertise lies in asking other people to help me fix things. It’s quite a talent.)

Frozen is linked to the right, by the way, at Frozen Domain. He has nothing there yet because he’s a lazy ass, too.

And above him is AwkwardSilence, which I’m not quiet sure what he’s preferring to be called since his name is listed as admin.

These are the people I associate with…I haven’t decided if publicly announcing this is a mistake or not yet.

Hmm.

Really, I am a terrible blogger.

Not because I can’t write or anything – I’m can be very self-indulgent, meaning I should find plenty to write about.

But rather, I’m very bad at staying on top of updates. Usually, I forget to come back. Maybe I’ll do better here.

We’ll see.

Also, do not expect anything fantastic from this blog. Expect a lot of video game talk. And anime talk. And book talk. And writing talk (I’m a writer). And god only knows what else. We’ll find out in time.
